- ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMME
AIMS
The programme
aims at equipping students with the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes
required by Adult Educators. It is also intended to give participants
the academic background required for pursuit of higher degrees in
Adult Education.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
An applicant must
possess a first degree in Arts, Social Science or a related field.
Those with equivalent qualifications may also be offered admission.
The programme is designed for adults already working in the field
of adult education, (e.g. social or community work, extension work,
teaching, workers' union leaders and church leaders). It is also meant
for graduates who wish to pursue adult education as a professional
or academic career.

12 months full-time
24 months part-time
PROGRAMME COMPONENTS
The programme has three main components:
Taught courses:
Eight in all (five in the first semester and three in the second semester).
Each course involves lectures and a one-hour tutorial a week.
Seminars/workshops:
at least two in each semester.

SEMINARS AND
WORKSHOPS
At least two seminars or workshops will be held each semester. A seminar
lasts about 2 hours and a workshop about 4 hours.
PROJECT WORK
or WORK ATTACHMENT
Work on the chosen option is expected to start during the inter-semester
break and should be completed by the middle of the second semester.
The written report should be submitted before the last day of the
second semester.
